What makes a happy marriage?
An Indian Ayurvedic master, Dr Balaji Tambe, was asked: “What makes a happy marriage?” Dr Tambe was silent for a while, thinking. At last he looked up and said: “A loving husband makes a happy marriage.” At the murmur of astonishment and dissent, he explained: his theory was that women are naturally loving, and, like sponges, absorb what is around them from the moment they are born. So if a man brings coldness, or fear, or indifference to the relationship, that is what she will give back. “But if a husband brings love, then that is what creates the happy marriage.” Bel Mooney |
We are all of us on a journey, but not all of us are going to the same place. Some of us - not very many - are on a spiritual journey. We feel like strangers in a strange land. We have been called outsiders and fringe dwellers, together with many less agreeable names. If we try to fit into the mainstream it never quite works. - The rewards of being on a spiritual journey are enormous, in spite of the difficulties. Now that I have turned 70 it seems a good time to do what elders are traditionally supposed to do, which is to pass on the benefit of my experience to any who might be interested. I don’t assume that those who are not as old as me are necessarily less advanced. I have met quite a few younger people who have seemed far more advanced than I am. They probably made better use of their past and present lives. But I have lived longer in this life, so maybe I have a contribution to make. - If you are like me you have a need to find out what is really going on behind the scenes of life, a sense that we see only the surface of things and that there are worlds upon worlds just beyond our reach. You will most probably have had mystical and/or paranormal experiences - or at least desired them. - I hope to add new essays at frequent intervals to make it worth your while revisiting. So welcome to this website and thanks for coming.
